Homemade Bisquick recipe
9 cups flour
1 1/2 cups dry milk
1/2 cup
sugar (can use Splenda)
3 tsps. baking powder (some folks substitute
Cream of Tartar)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. salt
21/4
cups lard, shortening, or butter
Mix the dry ingredients together and
then cut in the lard. You can store this in your pantry if you don't use
butter. If you use butter store this in your refrigerator. Lard seems to
provide a bit of a better flavor but I usually use shortening because that's
what I usually have.
This should last for about 3 months in your
pantry.
I usually use this to make biscuits. I just mix about 2 1/4
cups of mix to about 2/3 cups of milk, pat out the dough, cut out my biscuits
and bake them for close to 10 minutes (I usually check them at about eight
minutes).
